One requirement. Three ways to source it.

Sourcing Solutions - Steel Exchange

Our sourcing routes
Three Procurement Solutions, One Partner

Through our network of mills, authorised dealers, stockists and sourcing partners, we offer three distinct ways to buy engineering steel. The route is chosen by what your requirement actually needs — not by what is convenient for us to supply.

Why three routes
We Choose the Right Supply Route for Each Order

A tool room ordering one P20 block and a bearing manufacturer ordering forty tonnes of EN31 are not the same buyer, and they should not be quoted from the same source. Send both to a prime mill and the tool room waits for a full heat it does not need. Send both to surplus and the bearing manufacturer gets material he cannot certify.

So we read the requirement first — grade, quantity, application, how tight the documentation has to be — and then decide the route. You get it stated in the quotation, not discovered later when the certificate arrives.

One enquiry, three routes

A single RFQ is run across mills, dealers, stockists and surplus lots at the same time.

The route stated upfront

Mill, dealer, stock or surplus — named in the quotation, before you commit.

Documentation, route by route

What each route carries is set out plainly. We never imply a certificate that does not exist.

Part lots and odd sizes

We break bulk, so a prototype run of four bars is a real order on any of the three routes.

One registered entity

Quotation, invoice, e-way bill and payment all with TSB Global LLP. No split billing.

Honest lead times

Stock, mill-rolled and surplus material are quoted separately, with real dates.

How the Three Routes Differ

The honest version. Read across the row that matters most to your order.

Route Secondary Mill Prime & Imported Surplus
Pricing Below prime Market rate Lowest — depends on the lot
Documentation Mill test certificate as issued by the rolling mill EN 10204 3.1 matched to heat number; third-party inspection on request Whatever the lot carries. Stated before you order, never assumed
Lead time Against the rolling schedule Ex-stock, or mill and import lead time Immediate — the material already exists
Quantity Flexible, smaller heats Standard lots; part lots from stock Fixed by the lot
Size range Common sections and sizes Full range, 8 mm to 800 mm Odd and discontinued sizes are the strength here
Right for Cost-driven, non-critical work Specified grades, critical and repeat production Prototypes, urgent needs, one-off and price-led buying

Common questions
Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. If you tell us you want prime material only, we quote prime only. The assessment is a recommendation, not a substitution — we never switch the route after you have ordered.

Sometimes. It depends entirely on the lot. Every surplus offer states its documentation as one of three things: full mill test certificate, partial or invoice-only evidence, or no documents. It is printed on the offer.

It is commercial-grade material rolled in smaller heats. For general fabrication, jigs, fixtures and non-critical machined parts it does the job at a lower price. For bearing quality, gear steel or pressure service, we will tell you to buy prime instead.

Yes. A single purchase order can take prime material for the critical items and secondary or surplus for the rest. It still comes on one invoice from TSB Global LLP.

No. Submitting a lot is free, and so is the valuation. We earn on the transaction only if the lot sells.

Grade, Size, Quantity, Inspection Requirement

We come back with the source named and the lead time split between stock and mill-rolled material — so your planning is based on a real date, not an optimistic one.
