Steel Exchange is the engineering steel procurement and supply brand of TSB Global LLP, a limited liability partnership incorporated in Mumbai on 15 December 2022 and trading under the Steel Exchange name since 2023. We source more than ninety grades across seven material families from India's leading mills, authorised dealers and stockists, verify each consignment against its mill test certificate, and deliver it to you on a single invoice.
We are not a steel manufacturer and we do not run a rolling mill. Our Udyam registration records the activity as trading, and that is exactly what this business is. What we operate is the sourcing, verification and delivery layer between India's steel producers and the workshops that machine, forge and heat-treat their output — and because we buy across a network rather than from one source, we can supply part lots and cut lengths on grades that mills release only in full-heat quantities.

Engineering steel is bought on paper as much as on price. Every consignment we ship carries a mill test certificate to EN 10204 3.1, matched to the heat number marked on the material, covering chemical composition and mechanical properties against the standard on your drawing.
Where your own process or your customer's audit needs more than the mill's certificate, we arrange it before dispatch and quote it as a separate line — third-party inspection by the agency you nominate, ultrasonic testing on forged sections, hardness testing against your acceptance range, and independent chemistry or mechanical re-checks at a NABL-accredited laboratory. If the heat number on a certificate does not match the material, tell us before it is consumed and we will trace it or replace it. Our registration certificates are published in full, and every number on them can be checked on the relevant government portal.
A single enquiry goes out across mills, authorised dealers and stockists at the same time. We compare on landed price, lead time and documentation quality — not price alone — and quote you one number with the sourcing route stated, so you know whether the material is coming off a mill rolling schedule or out of a stockyard before you commit.
Where a requirement does not fit a standard mill order, it goes down a route built for it: managed sourcing for multi-grade enquiries, secondary mill sourcing where a full heat is not viable, prime and imported steel where the Indian grade is unavailable, and surplus steel where availability and price matter more than a fresh heat.
What we will not do matters as much as what we will. We do not substitute a grade or a standard without your written approval, even when an equivalent is technically close. We do not describe stockyard material as fresh mill material. We do not quote a lead time we know we cannot hold in order to win an order. And we do not claim to be the manufacturer of material we have sourced.
For a trading business, responsibility means one thing above all: material and its documentation must never be separated. Stock is segregated and recorded against heat number, stainless is handled apart from carbon steel to avoid contamination, and every dispatch leaves with the certificate that belongs to it.
We also try to reduce waste at the buying stage rather than the disposal stage. Cutting to length, part-lot supply and nesting advice on plate all exist so you are not paying for and discarding material you never needed. On a commodity priced by the kilogram, that is where the saving actually is.

Chintan Kothari, Designated Partner, has a rich background of 14 years in the engineering steel sourcing domain. To fill this gap in the market, TSB Global LLP was incorporated in December 2022. The company has deliberately built its business on a large network of suppliers and not on its own stocks and assets. This allows the company to source materials from a variety of mills, dealers and stockists and ensure that the right grade, dimension and amount are returned according to the buyer's requirements, instead of only being able to source from a single warehouse.

Steel Exchange, the brand of TSB Global LLP, was founded in order to address a persistent problem on the engineering steel buying side: the steel exchange. Usually, workshops involve more than one grade and thus deal with a number of supplier relationships. The number of bars required for prototypes can be very few, whereas the number of tonnes required for conventional mills can be several. Likewise, there is a catalog of technical drawings which may include a JIS designation, and the buyer may not be sure whether an available grade in India is the equivalent or just comparable to the JIS designation.
In these cases, the need for Steel Exchange became apparent: buyers frequently required small quantities of a number of engineering steel grades, and there may be instances where the minimum size required by the conventional mill does not match prototype or low volume requirements. Simultaneously, technical drawings might also include the international designation (JIS grade), which makes material identification and the selection of equivalent grade a crucial aspect of sourcing. Steel Exchange is created to consolidate all these requirements in a more practical sourcing process.
We are a procurement business, not a manufacturing unit, so we do not hold ISO 9001, IATF 16949 or a BIS licence — those certifications belong to the mills we source from and cover their production. What we do hold are the statutory registrations that let us trade, invoice and export, and each one is independently verifiable on a government portal.
